Lerwill Cup Rugby 2013 ‘Le Crunch’

The first inter-collegiate rugby union challenge match was played between the Defence Academy of the UK and the French Collège Interarmées de Défense in 1998. The match, named the Lerwill Cup after the donor of the trophy, Lieutenant Colonel Tim Lerwill, has taken place every year since. The match alternates between Paris and Shrivenham; over the past decade the Cup has stayed in Paris twice. This year the French travelled to a very blustery Shrivenham where they were disappointed, for the second year running, in a hard fought game. The Defence Academy side definitely made the most of its home field advantage. The touchline support from ACSC was brilliant as was the cracking bar/BBQ supplied by ESS, and the music of the RAF Central Band.
